The blog has been quiet, but life certainly has not. Keeping up with things around home, volunteering at the new Gorman’s Art Gallery in Casterton, Victoria (overseen by Artists of the Valley), newsletters and admin, a short stint overseas, as well as getting in some studio time has meant for busy days and nights.
It seems both five minutes and five years since the Casterton Kelpie Muster in June. It’s always hectic, with the Clarice Beckett Art Award and the Kelpie Art Award. This year, I was thrilled to have won the Best Local (Glenelg Shire) Artist Award for ‘Puppy Dreams’. It was a print I enjoyed producing – there’s always an element of adventure in a reduction print, not knowing quite how it will turn out until the final colour is done. It was a small edition of only two prints (one of which sold at the time of the exhibition) and two trial proofs.
